Question???

Question:

What do you use in regards to lettuce....bagged, a fresh head??? How do you keep it fresh, wrap it in damp paper towel, a krisper bowl?? I'm thinking buying the bags is a waste of my money, they last what a whole day after the initial opening??? Grrrr..... Help me out??

I never buy a bag of lettuce unless I will be serving the entire bag that same day...I always buy a head of lettuce and keep it in a bag. I think it helps to wrap it in a piece of paper towel.

You are right, the bags go bad in a day or so. I don't understand....they need to re-think their concept.

I buy romaine lettuce and it usually has 3 in a bag. I take it out of that bag and have been using those 'green produce bags'. They are working really well for us and makes our produce last longer! You can get 20 bags for $10 and are re-usable for about 8-10 times. :)

Plant your own lettuce! All you have to do is buy the seeds. You can plant it right in the ground or a large circle pot for a "salad bowl."

usually we'll put whatever lettuce we don't eat right away in a plastic bag. it usually stays good long enough for us to eat it, but there are times when i have to throw it out. i really like the idea of a produce bag like leeann suggested.
