Hmmmmm??

Okay, so now ALL of a sudden I'm freaking out about getting the H1N1 (swine flu) vaccine. Not sure why, I was so nonchalant about it at first, but I think it's due to that fact that our school Health Center is offering them later in the week, and the time to do it is fast approaching....

Are any of you, have any, know any family member/friends who are NOT getting the shot and are pregnant?? Just curious.....

Dont know anyone else right now that is pregnant. Although I just scanned a girl over the weekend that is 9 weeks pregnant and was in the ER because she has h1n1. Im not sure what the effects are on her, but she has the same symptoms as everyone else. youll have to ask your doctor on the differences between u being pregnant and not pregnant.

I live in Canada. I'm not quite sure if the vaccine is different here from the US. My friend, who is 5 months pregnant, was advised by her doctor to wait for the non-adjuvant vaccine which is coming out in a few months. In the mean time, she's not getting the vaccine.
They started the vaccination here yesterday. They started with hospital and medical clinic staff... the next group is going to be babies and pregnant women.
Not sure if this helps you at all, but thought I'd share the info anyway.

I know one person who is pregnant and not getting the vaccine - but her doctor advised her to. My SIL is a physician's assistant for an OB and she said they are leaving it up to the mom's. Although she said they are encouraging it for mom's who work with kids or in the health field.

I made the mistake of watching a 60minutes about N1H1 showing this healthy active teenager who was in a coma and on a ventilator. Who knows, media hype or real.

I never got the seasonal flu vaccine while pregnant. I never get any flu vaccines while not pregnant either. I am probably in the minority but I am choosing not to vaccinate Grant or myself with the H1N1 vaccine or the season flu vaccine.
